The Umbrella Academy has been renewed for a fourth and final season, according to Netflix. The series debuted in 2019 and is based on the same-named comic book by Gerard Way. The story revolves around seven siblings with superpowers who must repeatedly stop the end of the world, albeit under very different conditions each time. This summer saw the debut of the most recent season.

The Umbrella Academy has dealt with the perils of time travel since the start of the first season, as the world changes several times while the organisation known as The Umbrella Academy seeks to right its wrongs, only to make matters worse. The family finds themselves in a timeline where they never existed in Season 3. Instead, Sir Reginald Hargreeves (Colm Feore), their foster father, adopted a different group of children with superpowers, founding the Sparrow Academy.

Steve Blackman series creator, executive producer, and showrunner said, “I’m so excited that the incredibly loyal fans of ‘The Umbrella Academy’ will be able to experience the fitting end to the Hargreeves siblings’ journey we began five years ago. But before we get to that conclusion, we’ve got an amazing story ahead for season four, one that will have fans on the edge of their seats until the final minutes.”

With intentions to collaborate on several new projects, Netflix has also revealed its overall agreement with Blackman and his recently established Irish Cowboy production label. A series adaptation of the PlayStation game Horizon Zero Dawn and the original series Orbital are the two that are now in production. Below is further information on those initiatives. Abbey Morris has joined Irish Cowboy as Blackman’s senior vice president of development.

Morris had previously worked for Fabrik Entertainment as an executive. Season 4’s episode count was not addressed by Netflix, however many reports claim that it will be less than the previous 10-episode seasons of the show. For Season 4, the cast will be joined by returning actors Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castaeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H. Min, Ritu Arya, and Colm Feore.
