Although Uncharted 2 has not officially been ordered, there are several indications that Sony may be considering a sequel to the Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg film. However, Wahlberg stated in an interview that he would be subject to some requirements before coming back. Wahlberg said that he hasn’t done many sequels in his career during an interview with the YouTube channel Pinkvilla. According to the Ted 2 actor, he “isn’t really in the sequel business.”
“I developed the Transformers 2 to uphold my half of the contract. Afterward, I created Ted’s sequel. Spenser Confidential, a Netflix production that I created, is the only other film to which I’m thinking about creating a sequel.” The celebrity continued: “If Uncharted audiences actually enjoy the movie and there is interest in a follow-up. And I would if we could improve on the previous one.”
Additionally, it seems improbable that Wahlberg’s Uncharted contract did not include a sequel provision given how common it is for franchise movies these days. Wahlberg may, however, become sufficiently famous to have this provision removed from his contract, necessitating a higher fee from the studio should they decide to have him return as Sully. This is consistent with Mark Wahlberg receiving $1.5 million for the All the Money in the World reshoots whereas Michelle Williams only received $1,000.
With approximately $400 million in box office revenue, Uncharted is presently his fourth-highest-grossing film, which appears to be promising for a sequel. Following its first weekend, Uncharted was dubbed a “new hit movie franchise” by Sony Pictures CEO Tom Rothman.
