Without Islam, Hakeem Olajuwon would not have had an 18-year NBA career that would go down in history and a $300 million empire. He was frequently disobedient during his time in college and the early years of his professional career, talking back to referees, engaging in altercations with other players, and accruing technical fouls. Hakeem once recalled that I often studied the Quran. I read it at home, in the mosque, on airplanes, before games, and after games. If police officers hadn’t been brandishing guns at him, Vernon Maxwell would have stabbed Hakeem Olajuwon.

Max was sitting in the locker room, yelling nonstop, when he suddenly noticed a 7’0 towering figure in front of him.

Wrongly Chasing dreams

I was going to chase after Dream and knife the crap out of him, so I broke the glass and grabbed up a sizable chunk of it.

NBA champion claims that during an altercation in the locker room, Hakeem Olajuwon was almost stabbed.
The Hall of Famer was almost stabbed, according to Vernon Maxwell.

Behind the scenes, there are always fights between teammates, but they rarely end up close to a crime scene.
That is what transpired between Vernon Maxwell, a former Houston Rockets player, and Hall of Famer Hakeem Olajuwon during a game in Seattle.

In his appearance on Gilbert Arenas’ podcast, Maxwell, who played in the NBA for twelve years and won two rings with the Houston Rockets, recalled his exciting encounter with “The Dream” after complaining about the game’s lack of opportunities before leaving for the locker room at halftime.

According to Maxwell, Olajuwon yelled at him from behind before “smacking the s—- outta me.”
Maxwell exclaimed, “That mother——- hit me so hard, man, it knocked me out of the chair.” I leaped to my feet, grabbed my chair, and hurled it at the motherf—-er, shattering the glass in the locker room.

Former Bulls general manager admits that in 1984, he would have preferred Hakeem Olajuwon to Michael Jordan.

Maxwell claimed that the police drew their weapons at that point and confronted him in the locker room.

Maxwell claimed he would have used the piece of shattered glass he had in his hands as a weapon if it hadn’t been for the police and everyone running from the locker room.
Maxwell declared, “I was going to go after Dream and stab the s—- out of him.
Fortunately, nobody was harmed, and Maxwell praised Olajuwon for being a “wonderful teammate.” In 1994 and 1995, the couple won back-to-back championships.
