Roman Reigns: A Champion

Roman Reigns, the undisputed WWE Universal Champion, is still a target because Seth Rollins, his former Shield sibling turned bitter foe, has hinted that he may pursue Reigns’ championships once more.

Seth Rollins addressed his vicious beating of Riddle at SummerSlam last Saturday during his appearance on Monday Night RAW. Then he asserted that now that Riddle was out of the picture, he could focus on The Tribal Chief.

The Tribal Chief is in the picture

Roman Reigns’ triumph over Brock Lesnar at WWE SummerSlam 2022 led to The Tribal Chief achieving two more remarkable feats. Reigns’ victory against Lesnar in a gripping back-and-forth Last Man Standing bout at SummerSlam was significantly aided by The Usos. Due to his victory over The Beast Incarnate, Reigns finally held the title of Universal Champion for 700 days, which is by far the longest streak in the title belt’s six-year history. Additionally, according to the Twitter account @WrestleOps, Reigns has now held the title of world champion for more than 1,000 days overall throughout his prosperous WWE career. Reigns are presently making his second defense of the WWE Championship as well as the Universal Championship.
He has been the Universal Champion for almost two years after winning it again at the pay-per-view event on August 30, 2020, Payback. Additionally, Reigns hasn’t been cleanly pinned in in nearly 2.5 years (by Baron Corbin at TLC 2019). Lesnar is one of the few people who can easily defeat Reigns, but since returning to WWE at SummerSlam 2021, he has fallen victim to The Tribal Chief three times (at Crown Jewel 2021, WrestleMania 38, and of course SummerSlam).

Awaiting for a new champion

Now that their battle is finished, someone else will have to stand up and challenge the longest-reigning Universal Champion in history.
If Theory doesn’t suddenly cash in during the next few weeks, Reigns’ incredible winning run and title reign will continue for another month. His second anticipated championship defense against Drew McIntyre will take place on September 3 at the Clash at the Castle pay-per-view inside Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. Even if Reigns lost the title to Theory or McIntyre, WWE would unquestionably want to prevent him from suffering a glaring defeat. Going into WrestleMania 39, Reigns might still be the champion, but it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone.
