The Israeli drama series The Beauty Queen of Jerusalem is currently available on Netflix in a few regions in two parts. The good news is that more parts are on the way, but unlike the wait between parts 1 and 2, we’ll probably have to wait longer for season 2 (or part 3, as it will be referred to on Netflix). This is what we do know. If you’re not familiar, the Israeli series is based in the early 1900s and is on a housecleaner named Rosa who marries a shopkeeper who has a second woman in his life. Rosa’s decision has a long-term effect on her relationship with Luna, the oldest daughter.
Recall that only nine nations have access to the series on Netflix, and that parts 1 and 2 have not yet been released in those nations. The following areas distribute The Beauty Queen of Jerusalem:
Season 1 (now referred to as Season 1: Part 1) debuted on Netflix on May 20th, 2022, and Part 2 debuted on July 29th, 2022. Despite being referred to as a Netflix Original, the series is actually owned by and aired on the network Yes in Israel (specifically Yes Drama).
The first season of the programme consisted of 44 episodes that were shown in Israel (part 1 consisting of 27 episodes and the second in 17). For lengthier runtimes, those episodes are pooled on Netflix and divided into two seasons of ten episodes (20 overall). Due to this, even though it appears that there are two seasons of the show available, all that is currently available on Netflix is the first season’s entirety.
The Beauty Queen of Jerusalem will return for Part 3 / Season 2
Variety reaffirmed the renewal in 2022 when it was announced at EAST Tel Aviv in December 2021. The second season began filming in June 2022 and, according to some rumours, would premiere in Israel as soon as late 2022. According to some sources, filming may have been hampered because one of the series’ principal stars backed out.
While we don’t know how long the series will be on Netflix after it airs on YES in Israel, our best guess is that it will return in 2023 at the earliest, but we’ll keep you updated.
