Filip Petrusev has always been open about his desire to play in the NBA. But he’ll still have to wait for it to happen. The Philadelphia 76ers, who presently hold his rights, are still thinking about him.
Later that month, Petruev joined the Philadelphia 76ers for their second consecutive Summer League appearance in Las Vegas. He played for the Sixers in 4 Summer League games, averaging 5.5 points and 2.3 rebounds, and expressed a desire to sign with the organization right immediately. He was not signed by the Sixers since it was determined that he wasn’t physically ready for the NBA.

Career history

The Philadelphia 76ers will monitor Petrusev’s development after he joined Crvena Zvezda Mts Belgrade earlier this month. The 22-year-old Petrusev took part in four games while sporting a 76ers jersey at this year’s NBA Summer League. In 12 minutes per game, he averaged 5.5 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks. Following the Summer League, an unnamed NBA scout from the Eastern Conference spoke with heavy.com about Petrusev’s development.

The Serbian center saw virtually little action for Ergin Ataman’s team despite playing for the EuroLeague winner Anadolu Efes Istanbul club the previous season. The talented adolescent, who is 2.10 meters tall, must now prove that he is capable of performing at the level he did with Mega Basket and earlier with Gonzaga. He overestimated himself at this particular time, the scout said. Two years ago, when he was good in Serbia, he thought he was ready for the NBA, but the 76ers didn’t agree, the scout claimed. The scout went on to say that he is currently not physically ready for the NBA league.

Ready to play?

Some individuals continue to believe Petrussev has a shot to play in the NBA despite these allegations.
Because of his exceptional knowledge of the game, the scout predicted that he would play in the NBA. The unnamed scout claimed that he consistently stands out on the court, finishes very well close to the hoop, and performs exceptionally well in pick-and-roll situations. The scout discovered that the defense is the main issue, though. After studying at Gonzaga for two years, Petrusev decided to join the NBA draught. He was selected by Philadelphia in the second round with the 50th overall pick. Nevertheless, he returned to Serbia with a Mega Basket jersey, took home the ABA League MVP honor, and then joined Anadolu Efes.
