According to reports, Sasha Banks and Naomi’s WWE walkout had a major role in Liv Morgan’s recent ascent to the top of the card as the SmackDown Women’s Champion.
The newest Wrestling Observer Newsletter quotes Dave Meltzer as saying that Banks and Naomi’s resignation on May 16 made room for a top-tier female babyface to join the SmackDown brand and that WWE management decided it was time to hire Morgan. When WWE opted to promote a new Superstar, Morgan had “the pick of the draw,” according to Meltzer.
Additionally, Meltzer continued, Morgan’s appeal to the masses aided in her argument for continuing support.

Tag Team Titles

Despite holding the Women’s Tag Team Titles at the time, Fightful Select stated that Banks and Naomi were set to contend for the SmackDown and Raw Women’s Titles, respectively, in the wake of their exit. Banks and Naomi would have fought with Ronda Rousey and Bianca Belair, respectively, if that scenario had happened. Banks and Naomi, however, reportedly objected to WWE booking them as singles contenders because it would have reduced the value of their Tag Team Titles.
To Morgan’s credit, her reign as a titleholder is already thought to have been a success. At WWE live events, Morgan’s merchandise is in high demand, and she frequently gets some of the strongest audience reactions.
While the majority of the WWE Universe has supported Morgan’s tenure as champion, wrestlers like Bully Ray, a member of the WWE Hall of Fame, and seasoned referee Jimmy Korderas are not entirely sold on her. Morgan responded to her critics in a recent interview with Corey Graves on the podcast “After the Bell.”

Morgan vs Ronda

Everyone is free to express their opinions, according to Liv Morgan, who stated that everyone has a right to one. I couldn’t care less what you thought of me. Whether you like me or hate me, I can only act following my moral convictions, which I have generally done throughout my career.
At the upcoming SummerSlam premium live event, Morgan will compete against Ronda Rousey to defend her championship. Since cashing in her Money in the Bank briefcase to win her first taste of championship gold in WWE, the match will be her first televised title defense. In recent Triple-Threat Matches at live events, she has been fighting for the title against Rousey and Natalya, with Natalya eating the pin.
