At the southernmost point of the Strip, in the Rivea club of Mandalay Bay’s Delano skyscraper, 2K Sports presented the House of Greatness. In attendance were such stars as rapper Lil Durk, internet comedian Druski, and English international footballer Jesse Lingard. For the fourth straight, on the Jordan Edition of NBA 2K, Michael Jordan and his legendary No. 23 will be the cover athlete. Although the game’s official release date is September 9, there is also a special edition with a musical theme that has yet to be revealed. We’re focusing on the Netflixs of the world.

Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi

Anybody that’s spending their time engaging with the content, we want to introduce to our game, says Alfie Brody, vice president of global marketing for 2K. The game will donate $100,000 to Every Kid Sports, covering the registration fees for over 550 girls to join youth basketball programs. According to Mike Wang, director of gameplay at 2K, We know that a sizable portion of our community likes WNBA and we try to reflect that as well. Two of the most recognizable WNBA players ever, Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi, are featured on the cover. All I’ll say is the team is working on some cool stuff.

We have a lot of things that people want to change or fix, Wang says about the Franchise mode. NBA 2K11’s Jordan Challenge Mode allows players to play through iconic Michael Jordan moments from his career. “We wanted to make the game feel and look more like real-life basketball,” Wang says.

Cunningham all the way

By the conclusion of the season’s progression updates, Cade Cunningham hopes to have a 90 overall rating in-game. He expresses his admiration for the gameplay and visual enhancements in this year’s game, remarking that some of the animations seem more lifelike. Houston Rocket Jalen Green says the MyCareer experience simulates the real experience of being a professional basketball player. Cade Cunningham was hands-on with 2K23 at the House of Greatness last week, and he says the game moves very smoothly. Cunningham is a supporter of the pro 2K league, saying he thinks it’s a cool idea. With 2K still the dominant name in basketball gaming, it’s hard to know how this game will fare in a year that’s had few marquee triple-A releases.
