NBA players who have retired are increasingly taking on leadership roles with teams throughout the league or participating in it in other ways.

The most recent former player to do so is Kyle Korver, who decided to join the Atlanta Hawks front office on Tuesday.
After his 41st NBA season with the Milwaukee Bucks, Korver announced his retirement and joined Steve Nash’s coaching staff with the Brooklyn Nets as a player development coach.
According to Shams Charania of Stadium and The Athletic, veteran NBA shooting guard Kyle Korver will join the Atlanta Hawks in a front-office position.

Know everything

Last season, Korver, who was an NBA player from 2003 to 2010, worked with the Brooklyn Nets as a player development coach. During his NBA career, he played for six different clubs, including the Hawks from 2012 to 2017.

As a member of the 2014–15 Hawks, who won the Eastern Conference title and advanced to the East Finals, Korver was selected to one All-Star team.
Kyle Korver, who played in the NBA for 17 seasons, is most known for being one of the league’s all-time top three-point shooters with a 2,450 career total that ranks seventh all-time. Korver’s career three-point percentage was 42.9 percent.
While playing for the Nets, Korver was frequently spotted working behind the scenes with the team’s stars, including Ben Simmons, to improve his jump shooting technique.

A look back

After only a year in Brooklyn, Korver is now returning to the team he played for four and a half seasons, including the 2014–15 season when he represented Atlanta in the All-Star Game. In his three seasons with the Hawks, Korver led the league in three separate categories, including three-point shooting %. He also helped the team reach the Eastern Conference Finals by setting a franchise record with 60 victories during his All-Star season.

Korver joins a front office led by team president Travis Schlenk and Hawks general manager and former NBA player Landry Fields, though his specific role is currently unknown.
