“Believer 2,” a sequel to the 2018 hit crime action film “Believer,” has been approved by Netflix. While the first film drew 5.06 million viewers and grossed $33.6 million at the box office, the sequel will only be available online.
The film will be directed by Baek Jong-yeol, who previously directed “The Beauty Inside,” a 2015 hit fantasy romance in which a person’s physical appearance changes every day. The casting of Baek is expected to give the new film a distinct aesthetic from the original “Believer.”

The returning cast members are Cho Jin-woong and Cha Seung-won, as well as actress Han Hyo-joo, Oh Seung-hoon, Kim Dong-young, and Lee Joo-young.

A determined cop and a gang member worked together in the first movie, written and produced by Lee Hae Young (“The Silenced”), to apprehend Mr. Lee, the elusive leader of Asia’s biggest narcotics organisation. In the follow-up, the cop is reunited with gang members who are not who they appear, Han Hyo-joo (“Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure”) plays Big Sword, another shady figure with knowledge of Lee’s group, and there is more action. A clash at Seoul’s Yongsan station is one of the set piece action moments.

A spin-off series is being considered, according to Korean media reports, and production is set to begin soon both domestically and internationally.
After the popularity of the TV series “Our Blues” and the upcoming movie “Sinkhole” in 2021, Cha is currently in high demand.
A detective by the name of Won-ho (played by Cho) battles to bring down the head of a large-scale narcotics ring in Asia in the 2018 film Believer. The detective is able to find the elusive drug lord with the aid of various participants in the trafficking scene, including cartel member Brian (played by Cha).
