Snowpiercer to end with Season 4

After season four, TNT decided to cancel Snowpiercer. The post-apocalyptic dystopian thriller TV show is based on both the 1982 graphic novel Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob, Benjamin Legrand, and Jean-Marc Rochette and the 2013 movie of the same name by Bong Joon-ho.

When Snowpiercer debuted in May 2020, it transported viewers to the year 2026, where the last few survivors of civilization were travelling on the namesake luxury train around the freezing wastes of the earth. Critics have given Snowpiercer a variety of ratings over the course of its three seasons. Others laud the show’s critical examination of classism, social injustice, and the politics of survival as well as its fundamental sci-fi mystery. Others, however, have taken issue with the modifications made to the film’s source material and the restrictions placed on its cable TV broadcast, which limit Snowpiercer’s strengths in irreverence and anarchism.

Despite receiving a muted response, the show has been well-liked by viewers, in part because of its syndicated streaming run on Netflix. Because of this, Snowpiercer was picked up for season 4 before season 3 had even started, even though it appears that the following season will be the final for the character. With actors including Steven Ogg, Rowan Blanchard, Sean Bean, Chelsea Harris, and Archie Panjabi joining the ensemble in later seasons, Snowpiercer’s primary cast includes Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, Mickey Sumner, Alison Wright, Iddo Goldberg, and Susan Park.

Deadline has just reported that TNT has formally cancelled Snowpiercer after four seasons. The information was confirmed as the alternatives for the cast came up during the fourth season of Snowpiercer, which is presently being filmed in Canada. However, TNT did not choose to air them, allowing the actors to move on to pursue other chances. A network representative said they are happy of what Snowpiercer has accomplished over the years and of the long-lasting effect the programme will have on its genre. The fourth and final season of Snowpiercer has not yet been given a release date.

It does not currently appear possible that the creators of the series would try to find a new home for Snowpiercer. Of course, there are still plenty of stories to be developed from the show’s vast canon, but season 4 still seems like the natural conclusion for Snowpiercer. Since season 4 will be Snowpiercer’s final season, the producers will likely use the time they have to give the series a fitting finish rather than spending most of it trying to explain the mystery rocket explosion Melanie saw in season 3’s cliffhanger finale. A release date for Snowpiercer season 4 is logically out of reach given that season 3 only recently came to a close.
