What Christmas would be complete without a viewing of Home Alone? The franchise has delivered a lot of chuckles for audiences of all ages since Macaulay Culkin’s Kevin McCallister was initially left alone at home over the holiday season. Ellie Kemper, Rob Delaney, Aisling Bea, Kenan Thompson, Pete Holmes, Ally Maki, and Chris Parnell star in the new Christmas comedy directed by Dan Mazer and written by Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell, with Archie Yates as 10-year-old Max Mercer, the youngster who is left home alone. Max must defend himself against a pair who are attempting to take a treasured heirloom from his family after the rest of his family flies to Tokyo and leaves him alone at their home.

However, all the Home Alone movies after Home Alone 2: Lost in New York are more or less set in their own separate worlds. Therefore, it’s pretty unlikely that there will be any real connection between those latter movies and Home Sweet Home Alone.

It’s marginally better than the previous film but still nowhere near as good as the first two. Home Alone: The Holiday Heist is the only movie in the franchise that isn’t set in Chicago and has two protagonists (so no one’s technically alone).
