Terror in the form of a doll is making a comeback. The second season of Chucky, a Syfy and USA Network series, is now in production. Jennifer Tilly, who plays Tiffany Valentine in the franchise, announced the news on Twitter with a selfie of herself all dolled up and ready to reprise her role. While Tilly only appeared in the first season as Chucky’s gothic doll paramour, it appears that the second season will feature Tiffany in human form.

What do we mean when we say that? Tilly is wearing a white embellished headgear, a bedazzled jean jacket, and a long purple skirt in the photo she published on Twitter. Sure, this may just Tilly’s costume for a day of voice-overs, but we’re hoping it implies something more for the actress who returned to the series to reprise her fan-favorite role. Tiffany Valentine‘s younger human form made flashback appearances last season, but she was played by Blaise Crocker.

Following the events of 2017’s feature film Cult of Chucky, the first season of Chucky picked up. The tale revolves around a teen boy named Jake Wheeler who lives in Hackensack, New Jersey (Zackary Arthur). Wheeler discovers the innocent Good Guy doll at a yard sale while looking for a subject for his contemporary art project, but soon learns that he is in the hands of serial killer Charles Lee Ray. With Chucky and Jake in the centre of it all, the community quickly descends into madness, chaos, and murder. Through a series of flashbacks, the show also explains how Charles Lee Ray became the infamous serial killer. Chucky performs an excellent job of combining fiction and reality by incorporating real-life concerns like sexuality and bullying into the horror plot.

Several additional characters of the Chucky universe, including Brad Dourif, Fiona Dourif, Alex Vincent, and Christine Elise, joined the series to reprise their roles from prior films. Newcomers Arthur, Devon Sawa, Teo Briones, Alyvia Alyn Lind, and Björgvin Arnarson joined the cast for the first season. Don Mancini, who co-wrote Child’s Play with Nick Antosca, Harley Peyton, and Alex Hedlund, conceived the series and acts as an executive producer alongside Nick Antosca, Harley Peyton, and Alex Hedlund.

We’re looking forward to seeing more updates on the cult horror hit now that work has begun. Season 2 of Chucky has yet to be given a precise release date, although it is expected to launch in the fall of 2022. You may read Tilly’s post by clicking on the link below.
