First Kill, a new teen drama series about a vampire who falls in love with a vampire hunter, is one of Netflix’s big new debuts in 2022. The show clearly sets up a second season, but will we be returning for season 2? Here’s what we know so far.
V.E. Schwab’s new series, Juliette and Calliope, premieres on June 3rd, 2022, to the disappointment and amazement of everyone around them.
Imani Lewis as Calliope Burns, Sarah Catherine Hook as Juliette Fairmont, Elizabeth Mitchell as Margot Fairmont, and Gracie Dzienny as Elinor Fairmont are among the series’ cast members.
The series’ reviews appear to have divided critics and audiences. On RottenTomatoes, the show has a 52 percent approval rating among critics but a 93 percent approval rating among audiences. The series now has a 6.2 rating on IMDb.
Is Netflix planning a second season of First Kill?
We don’t think it’s appropriate to make a forecast about the show’s future at this time. To determine whether the show will be renewed, we’ll be watching how it does in weeks 2 and 3. The likelihood that a show won’t succeed is usually high if we observe declines in viewing of more than 50%. The following section will discuss the show’s performance.
The series’ performance, particularly in weeks 2 and 3, will ultimately determine whether it is renewed. Many of the show’s fans already know why the season won’t be renewed since they have taken to social media to criticise the marketing for the show.
How popular is First Kill on Netflix?
The show received 30.34 million hours on Netflix in its first three days, ranking it seventh for the week. In that first week, it had heavy competition from Surviving Summer and, of course, Stranger Things, which dominated both headlines and ratings.
We may compare First Kill’s three-day premiere to other shows to see how it compares. In comparison, Heartstopper (which dropped with episodes with shorter runtime, it’s worth noting) only received 14.55 million views. Another show with a similar makeup is In From The Cold, a sci-fi/fantasy-esque show. In its first three days on the service, it logged 24.72 million hours. That show has yet to be renewed for a second season, but it’s worth noting that viewership dropped by 64% from week 2 to week 3.
We may also look at raw top 10 data from FlixPatrol, which collects daily top 10s from around the world and assigns points to shows based on their rank. They point out that the programme is still gaining traction, and that as of June 15th, it was the third most popular title on Netflix globally, after only Stranger Things and Peaky Blinders.
What to anticipate from First Kill Season 2
Season 1 finds Juliette reaching the age when, as a vampire, she must commit her first killing in order to be properly recognised as one of The Legacies, the direct successors of the natural born. Then there’s Calliope, a vampire slayer who comes from a long line of slayers. Meanwhile, Juliette has her sights set on Romeo, er, Calliope, and thinks she will be her first prey.
Juliette, predictably, falls for her, and Calliope feels the same way. But Calliope was also on the lookout for her first kill. As a result, when she discovered Juliette was one of the lurking monsters, she made Juliette her first prey. The LGBTQ+ forbidden teen love culminates with Juliette biting Calliope and her silver steak piercing Juliet’s heart.
Theo, who is now a vampire, and his trip into that realm and coming to terms with his new reality would be one of the major plot lines going into a second season.
Elinor is having trouble for a second season, according to DigitalSpy, saying:
“Elinor’s part in the whole Theo-vamp debacle has inadvertently landed her in police custody. Without her parent’s help to save her, how will she escape jail? We smell multiple murders on the horizon.”
