Justin Bieber has said that he has been diagnosed with a rare condition that has immobilised half of his face, and that his tour has been postponed until he recovers. On Friday, the Grammy winner posted a video to Instagram in which he discussed his health. He claims he has Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which causes facial paralysis and impairs facial nerves as a result of a shingles outbreak.

After cancelling gigs in Toronto and Washington, D.C., Justin released the video. The musician revealed that he could scarcely move one side of his face in the video, describing the condition as severe. “IMPORTANT PLEASE WATCH,” he wrote in the caption. “I love you guys and keep me in your prayers,” he added.

“For those frustrated by my cancellations of the next shows, I’m just physically, obviously not capable of doing them,” he said in the video. He added, “My body’s telling me I’ve got to slow down. I hope you guys understand.” He said, “I can’t smile on this side of my face. This nostril will not move. So there’s full paralysis on this side of my face.”

Justin stated he doesn’t know how long it will take him to recover. He did, however, look optimistic about making a full recovery with rest and therapy, and he said he had been practising facial exercises. “I’ll be using this time to just rest and relax and get back to a hundred percent, so that I can do what I was born to do,” he said.

Many stars commented in Justin Bieber’s post, wishing for his speedy recovery. Hailey Baldwin re-shared her husband’s post on her Instagram Stories and wrote, “I love u baby”. Justin’s mother Pattie Mallette wrote “PRAYING!” Shawn Mendes commented on Justin’s post, “love you so much. I admire you so much.”
