The cast of Netflix and Skydance’s anticipated comic book sequel, The Old Guard 2, has been expanded to include Uma Thurman (Kill Bill) and Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians). They’ll be joined by Charlize Theron, KiKi Layne, Matthias Schoenaerts, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, Veronica Ngo, and Chiwetel Ejiofor, who will all reprise their roles.

The Old Guard, one of Netflix’s most popular films to date, debuted in July 2020 and had 186 million hours of viewing in its first 28 days. The film, based on Greg Rucka and Leandro Fernández’s graphic novel series, featured a covert band of immortal mercenaries who were suddenly revealed, trying to keep their identities hidden just as an unexpected new member was discovered. The narrative of the sequel has remained a mystery, but the project appears to be moving forward, with the first castings taking place since its initial announcement in August of last year.

Victoria Mahoney has been tapped to film the sequel to Rucka’s The Old Guard, which was directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood. Skydance will produce with David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger, as well as Theron, Beth Kono, and AJ Dix for Denver and Delilah, Marc Evans for Marc Evans Productions, and Prince-Bythewood. Rucka is the executive producer for the film.

Thurman is an Oscar and Golden Globe nominee best known for her roles in Dangerous Liaisons, Pulp Fiction, Batman & Robin, Gattaca, Sweet and Lowdown, Kill Bill: Vol. 1 & 2, The Producers, Nyphomaniac: Vol. 1 & 2, and The House That Jack Built, among many more. She recently portrayed Arianna Huffington in Showtime’s Super Pumped: The Battle For Uber, and she will soon be seen in the darkly comic thriller The Kill Room, which she is producing, as well as Prime Video’s romantic comedy Red, White, and Royal Blue, based on Casey McQuiston’s beloved bestseller of the same name.

Golding, best known for his role as Nick Young in Warner Bros.’ Crazy Rich Asians, will soon be seen in Carrie Cracknell’s adaptation of Jane Austen’s Persuasion, starring Dakota Johnson, Suki Waterhouse, and Richard E. Grant; Camille Delamarre’s action film Assassin Club, starring Sam Neill and Noomi Rapace; the Paramount animated film The Tiger’s Apprentice; and Lily Rabe and Hamish Linklater’s drama

Golding is represented by CAA, Megan Silverman Management, and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman, while Thurman is represented by ICM Partners, Untitled Entertainment, Jonathan Sanders & Co, and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller.
