Camille Vasquez, Johnny Depp’s lawyer, has spoken out for the first time regarding rumours that she was dating the actor. Camille rose to prominence after being seen by Johnny’s side during his recent defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard. Their recordings have been circulated on social media, implying a romantic relationship between them. Camille has finally spoken out about the persistent rumours. Many people speculated about Camille and Johnny’s closeness and thought the two were dating during the trial.

Camille has now responded to these charges in a recent interview. The lawyer has not only refuted the rumours, but has also labelled them as misogynistic. She has also stated that she has a boyfriend and that they are’very happy’ together. Camille remarked in an interview with People Magazine, “I guess it comes with the territory of being a woman just doing her job. It’s disappointing that certain outlets kind of ran with it or said that my interactions with Johnny–who is a friend and I’ve known and represented for four-and-a-half years now that my interactions in any way were inappropriate or unprofessional. That’s disappointing to hear.”

It is also unprofessional for lawyers to date their clients, according to the lawyer. She said, “It’s also an unethical charge being made. It’s sexist. It’s unfortunate and it’s disappointing, but at the same time it kind of comes with the territory. I can’t say I was all that surprised.” She then added, “This man was fighting for his life and it broke my heart to see him day in and day out have to sit there and listen to the most horrific allegations being made against him. And if I could provide any bit of comfort, then of course I would do that, whether it’s holding his hand or letting him know that we were there and we were going to fight for him because he deserved it.”

Vasquez and Benjamin Chew defended Depp during his defamation case. He filed the lawsuit against Heard after she authored an op-ed for The Washington Post in 2018 in which she referred to herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse.” Depp was not mentioned by name in Heard’s personal piece. According to prior court filings obtained by E! News, Depp’s lawyers claimed that the op-ed was part of a elaborate fraud.

According to the publication, a Virginia jury found Heard guilty for defaming Depp on June 1. He received USD 10 million in compensatory damages and USD 5 million in punitive penalties, with the latter lowered to USD 350,000 by the judge. Heard was awarded USD 2 million in compensatory damages after filing a countersuit against Depp.
