Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 concluded filming last month, and while plot details are being kept under wraps, fans are gradually getting more information as it becomes accessible. Maria Bakalova, an Oscar nominee, will be joining Star-Lord and crew in the Marvel Cinematic Universe threequel, according to Deadline.James Gunn, the writer and director of the Guardians flicks, keeps his projects under wraps, so little is known about the third feature or Bakalova’s role. Bakalova had her breakthrough with Sacha Baron Cohen in the controversial Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, which garnered her an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress and shown she could not only act, but was also a natural fit for the MCU’s more humorous brand. She recently appeared in A24’s upcoming comedic horror Bodies Bodies Bodies, as well as acting in and producing The Honeymoon and Judd Apatow’s pandemic film The Bubble, opposite Karen Gillan, who plays Gamora’s sister Nebula in the MCU.

Many of the cast members from the first two films will return, including Christ Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel as Groot, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Sylvester Stallone as Gillan, and Elizabeth Debicki, who played the Golden High Priestess of the Sovereign in Vol 2. Pratt, Bautista, Klementieff, Gillan, Diesel, and Cooper will also participate in Thor: Love and Thunder in addition to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Along with the enigmatic Bakalova persona, Gunn has revealed that Would Poulter will play Adam Warlock, a prominent figure in the Marvel universe. In the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 post-credits scene, Ayesha is building something she refers to as powerful enough to destroy the Guardians of the Galaxy, which she names Adam. This is concerning, given that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is intended to be the final instalment in the series.
Along with Poulter, Daniela Melchior and Chukwudi Iwuji are hopping worlds from The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker, respectively, while Gunn promised that there will be a “unannounced actor” who “isn’t Bakalova.”Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will hit theaters May 5 next year
