Machine Gun Kelly is introducing his mother to the rest of the world. The rapper shared a selfie of himself with his mother on Instagram on Thursday. As MGK raises two middle fingers and his mother raises a peace sign, the two are beaming and leaning into each other.

They sat next to each other on the ground, crossed-legged, and both smiled for the camera. For the photo, MGK used two middle finger emojis, while his mother used a more diplomatic peace sign. “Introducing… my mom ❤️‍🔥,” he said in the caption.

MGK was born to missionary parents in Houston. MGK and his father relocated to Denver to live with his aunt when his mother departed. In his 2019 song “Burning Memories,” he referred to the impact of his mother’s abandonment. The lyrics are as follows: “Yeah, this one’s for the mama that I never knew; I took aside just to burn all of my memories of you.”

On July 5, 2020, MGK’s father passed away. On the one-year anniversary of his father’s passing, the rapper released his fourth studio album Hotel Diablo, which includes the song “Burning Memories.” On Twitter, MGK revealed his father’s death, saying he’d “never felt a pain this deep in my life.”

Fans shared messages in the comments. “Omg! This is major. Congrats for reconnecting,” wrote one supporter, while another remarked over the surprise reunion. “Omg I can’t believe you are actually with her. If you are happy I’m happy for you.
