Netflix has announced the release of two new Swedish programmes in 2023 and 2024. Continue reading for more information on each new series:
Barracuda Queens
Barracuda Queens is an upper-class lady gang heist series based on true occurrences. The Barracuda Queens are a group of disillusioned adolescent girls who, bored with their privileged existence in Stockholm’s affluent suburb Djursholm, become involved in an expanding spree of house burglaries targeting their gullible rich neighbours. They are high-achieving students and daughters by day, but merciless thieves by night. Nobody will ever suspect them, right?
Frida Asp and Fatima Varhos, who have worked on multiple Netflix projects including Greatest of All and Love & Anarchy, are producing the series. This is how its principal author Camilla Ahlgren describes the process of creating Barracuda Queens.
This is a type of series I’ve never developed or written before, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to work with Frida and Fatima again, as well as Netflix’s belief in our concept. With five brilliant, borderless Djursholm girls as major protagonists, our goal was to do something enjoyable, hard, and unique while still saying something about our time.

Alva Bratt, best known for her roles in the Eagles and the Zebra Room, leads the cast. We also witness Izabella Scorupco, Johannes Kuhnke, Tindra Monsen, Sandra Zubovic, Tea Stjärne, Sarah Gustafsson, Carsten Björnlund, Max Ulveson, Mirja Turestedt, Michaela Thorsén, Meliz Kargle, Gino Estera, and more.
There is no specific release date for the series as of this writing, but we can confirm that Barracuda Queens will be available on Netflix in 2023. It’s looking like we’ll get to see it in the spring.
