What We Know So Far About Netflix’s The Raid Remake

the 2

The US adaptation of The Raid, directed by Gareth Evans, has been one among Netflix’s hottest acquisitions thus far in 2022. Michael Bay, Gareth Evans, and Patrick Hughes are among the Hollywood giants who have contributed to this version of the high-octane action film. In January 2022, it was announced that Netflix had acquired the rights.
Patrick Hughes, whose credits include The Hitman’s Bodyguard, The Expendables 3, and the upcoming Netflix action comedy film The Man From Toronto, which will be released exclusively on Netflix on June 24th, will helm the film.

The Raid remake has been in the works in the United States for several years, with various different versions being considered. Sony’s Screen Gems development centre was working on the most recent edition. That remake, on the other hand, was shelved in October 2015, with only XYZ films remaining on the project, which is now being worked on by Netflix.
XYZ Projects has also collaborated with Netflix on a number of upcoming and current films. Tom Hardy’s Havoc, I Came By, and Code 8: Part II are among their planned releases. Stowaway, Apostle, and ARQ, all slated for release in 2021, are already available.

What is The Raid’s plot?

Gareth Evans wrote and directed the original film, which followed an elite Indonesian S.W.A.T. team that becomes trapped in a tenement run by a brutal mobster and his army of murders and thugs. The film premiered at the 2012 Toronto Film Festival, where it received immediate recognition for its wild action sequences, making Evans one of the festival’s greatest stars.
This version of The Raid is claimed to be set in the drug-infested “Badlands” of Philadelphia, where an elite covert DEA task force climbs a ladder of cartel informants to apprehend an elusive boss.

The Raid cast and production status?

The cast for the US remake of The Raid remake has yet to be confirmed as of May 2022, but given the producers, we can expect quite a few prominent names to feature.
The Raid is still in active development at Netflix, which means that the script is still being written and edited, with pre-production to follow.

Netflix hasn’t disclosed any release dates for The Raid, but given its early development stage, we can presumably expect it in 2023.
