Netflix customers around the world are currently binge-watching Stranger Things season 4, which is the show’s penultimate season. Or, at the very least, the first seven of nine extra-large episodes. We’re seeing more scores come in as more people watch it, and it’s no surprise that Netflix’s beloved original is still doing well.
Stranger Things season 4 is already actively reviewing better than season 3, almost as good as season 2, however nothing will ever match up to season 1. On Rotten Tomatoes, the following is the breakdown of the scores:
- Stranger Things season 1 – 97% critics, 96% audiences
- Stranger Things season 2 – 94% critics, 90% audiences
- Stranger Things season 3 – 89% critics, 86% audiences
- Stranger Things season 4 – 93% critics, 90% audiences
That’s a 4% increase over previous season, however all of these numbers are still quite high. The show’s usage of horror aspects this time around has been praised by critics and fans alike, and despite the fact that they are 75-90 minute episodes, they are well-paced and never feel bloated.
Stranger Things is a show that both scores well and has a large viewership. Netflix has had its fair share of controversy recently over the quality of its originals, but it is a programme that both scores well and has a high viewership.

- Stranger Things – 93%
- The Lincoln Lawyer – 77%
- Bridgerton season 2- 78%
- The Ultimatum – 44%
- Ozark season 4 – 84%
Stranger Things has been a notable quality outlier over the last few months. Not that Netflix hasn’t had shows with big ratings. Series like Heartstopper and Russian Doll have received perfect scores, yet they have yet to crack the top ten. Stranger Things will be sorely missed by Netflix when it is no longer available, just as Ozark is today.
When the final two massive episodes of Season 4, including the 2.5 hour season finale, premiere in July, we’ll see whether anything changes, with scores moving up or down. After that, just Season 5 remains, and we’ll see if the Duffer brothers can pull off a worthy finish. They haven’t missed a game yet, and this season has shown that the time off due to the epidemic has only served to help them rebuild and return even stronger.
