In 2019, Butler was chosen to star in the film. According to the site, the film suffered multiple difficulties as a result of the pandemic, with filming being delayed. According to the magazine, the producers agreed to move Butler to Los Angeles, but the actor decided to take advantage of the opportunity to “dig even further into his role.” He also apparently studied photographs of Elvis from every decade in preparation for the part.
