The government announced on Friday that three oil companies, including ExxonMobil, had obtained injunctions to halt climate change activists’ protests, which have caused considerable disruption this month.

Daily protests have been held in London and across the country by environmental groups such as Extinction Rebellion and Just Stop Oil, who have mostly targeted oil facilities.
According to the UK’s business department, Navigator Thames, ExxonMobil, and Valero have now obtained civil injunctions that will allow them to minimize interruption and prevent further problems.

“While we value the right to peaceful protest, it is vital that such protests do not disrupt people’s daily lives,” said Greg Hands, the energy minister.
Last year, the government obtained injunctions to prevent demonstrators from blocking major roads and highways in London and the southeast.
