Life and Beth Season 1 Reelgood

Hulu’s comedy-drama Life & Beth gets new life as it’s set to get a second season. The comedian Amy Schumer who plays the lead role in the show confirmed the news herself on  The Howard Stern Show yesterday, that the hit series will get another 10 Episodes. The first season of the show debuted on March 18 on the streamer, and reviews have been positive so far.

Cast

The other cast members of the show include Michael Cera(John), Laura Benanti(Jane), Kevin Kane(Matt), Violet Young(Young Beth), Susannah Flood(Ann), Michael Rapaport(Leonard), and many others. Amy Schumer is also the director of the show.

Plot

As a wine distributor in Manhattan, Beth (Schumer) has a steady job and a long-term, successful boyfriend. Her life seems prosperous on the surface. Her past is forced into scrutiny after an unexpected incident forces her to confront her present and asks herself, “What do I want in life and who do I want to be?”.  As she struggles with her upbringing and aims to change her life, the series takes her back to the Long Island home where she grew up. As well as John (Cera), she’s attracted to him despite the fact that he doesn’t meet her original preconceived notions of perfection.

The first season showed us Beth’s journey toward a more genuine life, propelled by memories she stamped over as a young girl. When her mother passes away, she finally sees how her childhood was marred by family drama once again. The season ended on somewhat of a positive note with Beth quitting her job, reanimating her relationship with her sister, and pursuing a relationship with John.

As of yet, a release date for Life & Beth season 2 has not been set, but the first season of the bittersweet dramedy can already be viewed on Hulu.
