There has been an increase in at-home or self-testing kits since COVID-19 levels have risen rapidly in India. Sandeep Nangia of Delhi Retail Distribution Chemist Alliance (DRDCA) told ANI news agency that 5,000 to 10,000 self-testing kits are being sold every day in Delhi and that they are in great demand.
These self-testing kits are explained, as well as the benefits of utilizing them, and why the rise in their usage is a concern to public health professionals.
Only seven home COVID test kits have been authorized by India’s National Council of Medical Research (NCMR). They are:
- Mylab Discovery’s Coviself (Pathocatch) COVID-19 OTC Antigen LF device,
- Abbott Rapid’s Panbio COVID-19 Antigen rapid test device,
- Merril Diagnostics’ CoviFind COVID-19 Rapid Antigen self-test,
- Angstrom Biotech’s Angtech COVID-19 home test kit,
- Healgen Scientific Limited’s CliniTest COVID-19 Antigen self-test,
- SD Biosensor Healthcare’s ULTRA Covi-Catch SARS-CoV-2 home test and Nulife Care’s AbCheck Rapid Antigen self-test
Depending on the model, these kits might cost anywhere between Rs 250 and Rs 350. Before using any COVID-19 home testing kits, make sure the area is free of debris and germs, and wash your hands thoroughly. It’s critical that you use the testing kit’s software, enter your credentials, and then begin the test.
