Radha Krishna Kumar’s Radhe Shyam is a 2022 Indian period romantic drama film starring Prabhas and Pooja Hegde, written and directed by Radha Krishna Kumar. It is simultaneously shot in Telugu and Hindi. The film was co-produced by UV Creations and T-Series. The film is set in 1970s Europe and depicts the narrative of Vikramaditya, a palmist torn between destiny and his love for Prerana.

 S. Thaman composed the Telugu version’s score, while Sanchit Balhara and Ankit Balhara composed the Hindi versions. There are two different soundtracks for the Hindi and Telugu versions of the film. The Hindi songs were written by Mithoon and Manan Bhardwaj, whereas the Telugu songs were written by Justin Prabhakaran. The film’s principal photography began in October 2018 and was completed in July 2021, with locations including Hyderabad, Italy, and Georgia.

It was originally scheduled to be released on July 30, 2021, but was postponed owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. The film has been released today.

The plot follows Vikram Aditya (Prabhas), a world-famous palmist who does not feel he is destined for love. Despite his best efforts, he falls for Dr. Prerna (Pooja Hegde), a lovely doctor. While he forecasts a bright future for her, it appears that fate has other plans for her.

From the opening frame, Radhe Shyam, a period romance set in Europe in the 1970s, is driven by the grandeur of the images and production design. For a while, the magnificent locations of Europe in the vintage era keep you enthralled, but the film’s shortcomings quickly become apparent.

Even if the director keeps the relationship between the lead pair on a high note, the picture suffers from a lack of a strong narrative in the first half. The sequence in which Vikramaditya meets Prerna is visually appealing, yet it lacks weight. Because it’s unfair to anticipate high-octane action sequences in a heartfelt love story, the picture takes its sweet time getting into the swing of things.

Prabhas does an excellent job as the palmist facing fate. Pooja looks stunning, especially when she’s filmed in beautiful settings. The film’s final half-hour lets one forget about the film’s uninteresting sections and sloppy editing.
