Despite the “Zero COVID” policy, cases are rapidly increasing in Chinese cities.

Beijing: Despite Beijing’s assertion of a “Zero COVID-19 Policy” across the country, Covid instances in China’s various provinces and cities, including Heilongjiang, have been increasing.
According to media reports, the COVID-19 outbreak in Beijing, Heilongjiang, and several other cities is still uncontrollable, while infection cases in nine cities – Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Yunfu, Huizhou, Heyuan, Meizhou, Baise, Nanning, and Shaoyang – and three southern Chinese provinces – Guangdong, Guangxi, and Hunan – are rapidly increasing.

This underscores the potential of a new pandemic breakout owing to the significant movement of individuals during China’s Spring Festival.

According to Wang Guangfa, a respiratory doctor at Peking University First Hospital, this year’s Spring Festival travel surge will be plagued by intermittent breakouts, as it was last year.
The massive influx of passengers would undoubtedly raise the chance of COVID-19 spreading. As a result of the domestic COVID-19 flare-ups, many individuals were unable to return home and chose to remain.
Furthermore, Xixia county officials had chosen to tighten controls, particularly on those returning from medium and high-risk regions such as Shenzhen and Baise city.

According to media sources, the office of the COVID-19 prevention and control headquarters in Xixia county recently instructed different command and control departments in villages, towns, and streets, as well as members units of various COVID-19 prevention and control in Xixia county.
While Nanyang, Henan province, will impose stringent checks on people returning from Covid-19 hotspots, including the keeping of records of their interactions, strict implementation of measures such as checking RT-PCR reports, and sending special reports to the COVID-19 headquarters on the region’s prevention and control situation.
Meanwhile, China’s National Health Commission recorded 40 domestically transmitted COVID-19 cases in the previous 24 hours.

According to the Xinhua News Agency, 22 new local infections were detected in Inner Mongolia, nine in Liaoning, four in Jiangsu, four in Guangdong, and one in Yunnan.
According to the Commission, eight provincial-level areas reported 47 imported COVID-19 cases on Thursday.
