Local police announced that US skateboarder and filmmaker Josh Neuman was one of four persons killed in an Icelandic aircraft crash.

Neuman, who created skateboarding videos for over 1.2 million YouTube subscribers, was in the nation sightseeing and filming a commercial on February 3 when his jet went missing.

Authorities discovered four bodies in Lake Thingvallavatn, near the capital city of Reykjavik, on Sunday.

“The remains of four people at the bottom of the lake have been found and located at a depth of 37 meters (about 121 feet) or less,” Icelandic Police said in a statement.

Neuman was well-known for his adventurous films, which included leaping from an aircraft and longboarding down mountains.

In 2020, a video of him skating downhill on YouTube received over 106 million views.

The attempt to collect the dead was called off on Sunday owing to inclement weather, but it would resume whenever conditions improved.

The 22-year-old was in Iceland to film commercial video for Belgian fashion label Suspicious Antwerp, according to a statement on the company’s official website.

“It is with tremendous sadness that we are to report that the occupants consisted of a Suspicious Antwerp employee, two content creators, and an Icelandic pilot,” it said.

“We are deeply saddened by the news, and our thoughts and prayers are with the victims’ relatives and friends. “We are in close communication with them, as well as with the authorities, and we are doing everything we can to help them during these trying times.”
