Spider-Man: No Way Home, Tom Holland’s third outing as the web-slinging hero, was the best-performing film at the Indian box office in 2021, grossing over Rs 200 crore. The Jon Watts-directed film has so far grossed Rs 202.34 crore in India.
The film is also a global juggernaut, easily obliterating competition. After 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, it recently surpassed the $1 billion mark, making it the first picture to accomplish so. It now has a larger global collection than Black Panther. And, before the film’s theatrical run is finished, it will have landed in the top ten box office grossing films of all time.
“#Spiderman hits 200 cr…,” trade analyst Taran Adarsh posted on Twitter, sharing the film’s box office data. #PushpaHindi [mass circuits] + #83 + Restrictions TheFilm [metros] are speed bumps, but the #NewYear holidays and open week help in Weekend 3… [Week 3] Friday 3 cr, Saturday 4.92 cr, and Sunday 4.75 cr. #India business total: 202.34 crore net BOC.”
The film, directed by Jon Watts and written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, examined the notion of the multiverse and dealt with the ramifications of JK Simmons’ J Jonah Jameson revealing Spider-true Man’s identity to the world. Peter Parker asks Doctor Strange to execute an ancient ceremony to make everyone forget he’s Spider-Man, but his continuous meddling breaks it up, splitting the cosmos wide.
With a domestic box office total of 260 crore, Spider-Man: No Way Home is also the highest-grossing release of 2021. It’s also the world’s greatest strike since the coronavirus outbreak. After Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War, the film is the third-biggest Hollywood blockbuster of all time in India, produced by Sony Pictures Entertainment.
In the United States, Spider-Man: No Way Home made an estimated $52.7 million during the weekend. The picture has a three-week international total of $1.37 billion, with China and Japan yet to see it.
