On its first day in India, Spider-Man: No Way Home grossed Rs. 33 crore. The Tom Holland-starrer not only surpassed Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi’s 26.29 crore opening box office take to become the year’s largest opener, but it also became the biggest opening day collection for a Hollywood picture in India since 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.

Tom Holland plays the lead in the picture, which is produced by Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures. Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina, and Jamie Foxx are among the cast members.

Spider-Man: No Way Home did well at the multiplexes, according to Box Office India. “It is the third best opening post-pandemic in India, after Vakeel Saab (Telugu) and Master (Tamil), but there will be a huge difference between these South films and Spider-Man: No Way Home after day one,” according to the article.

The picture, however, is still performing below expectations, according to the report. “According to the numbers in South, this film should have done 42-43 crore nett,” the report continued, “but performance in Hindi circuits is generally less than Infinity War, while South is just 20% less than Endgame, which did 53 crore net on day one.”

The third Marvel superhero film to be released in India this year was Spider-Man: No Way Home. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Eternals were both released by Marvel Studios. Eternals opened to $8.75 crore, compared to 3.25 crore for Shang-Chi, according to trading expert Taran Adarsh.

The third Spider-Man film, featuring Tom Holland, has received mainly positive reviews upon its release. According to the Hindustan Times review: “No Way Home’s mainly gratifying and temporarily exhilarating accomplishment rests not so much in the plot as it does in bringing back actors and characters from prior Spidey films. The fascinating novelty factor of what happens, not why or how it happens, is the fascination here.”

In India, the English version of Spider-Man: No Way Home is the most popular, followed by Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu versions. According to reports, the film had 100% occupancy in 11 IMAX theatres in India, which was previously observed when the superheroes gathered for Avengers: End Game.
