Mads Mikkelsen replaces Johnny Depp as Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald in the first trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.

The first look at Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore has been released ahead of Monday’s trailer release. In addition to presenting Mads Mikkelsen as Grindelwald after he replaced Johnny Depp in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Warner Bros. released a teaser to transport eager Harry Potter fans back to their childhood memories of the wizarding world.

“Whether it’s on a page, a stage, or on a screen, it’s all part of one Wizarding World,” says the teaser, which has been published on YouTube. It then goes on to discuss the 20th anniversary of the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, which introduced us to Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint as Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley, respectively. It also includes scenes of Lord Voldemort in wrath, a dragon in action, and more.

“The world as we know it is coming undone,” Jude Law as Dumbledore tells Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) in a sneak peek from the upcoming prequel. Things that seem impossible now will appear to be unavoidable tomorrow. If you agree to do what I ask, you’ll have to put your trust in me even if your gut tells you not to.”

The film, which was originally set to debut on July 15 of next year, will instead debut on April 15, 2022. It’s a prequel film series based in the same Wizarding World as Harry Potter, both of which were developed by JK Rowling.

During the rise of the dictatorial Grindelwald, magi zoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) becomes a confidant of a young Albus Dumbledore, played by Jude Law.

“Professor Albus Dumbledore knows the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald is moving to seize control of the wizarding world,” the official logline of the film reads.

“He entrusts Magizoologist Newt Scamander to lead an intrepid band of wizards, witches, and one courageous Muggle baker on a risky expedition, where they battle Grindelwald’s growing legion of followers and encounter old and new animals. But how long can Dumbledore stay on the sidelines when the stakes are so high?”

David Yates, a veteran of the Harry Potter franchise, has returned to direct the picture. JK Rowling and Steve Kloves collaborated on the script. Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler, and Jessica Williams round out the cast.
