Actor Matt Damon ranks among the very few versatile actors in Hollywood. He has acted in a number of high-budget space films to critically praised indie movies. He has the ability to get in any role and bring life to it with his stellar acting skills. However, just like all other actors, he too had to give up on a movie which turned out to be a huge blockbuster eventually.
The actor, 50, was reportedly carrying out a master class at the Cannes Film Festival where he revealed to the audience that he had to give up a role in a high-budget film and a massive paycheck that was a part of it. The actor took no time to announce the name of the movie as 2009’s sci-fi movie Avatar. He also stated that the director of the movie, James Cameron had offered him to pay 10% of the box office collections earned from it. Sadly, Matt had to decline the offer on the basis of ‘moral’ grounds as at that time he was already a part of action-franchise Jason Bourne and was not willing to leave it. The revelation was a shock to all except Matt’s pal actor John Krasinski who laughed at his decision.
Matt related telling the news to The Office actor who drastically rose from the table in shock and expressed that nothing would have changed in Damon’s life with the exception of that they would be at present having this conversation in space. Since Matt Damon turned down such a good opportunity, the role was taken up by Sam Worthington. Avatar went on to become the highest grossing film of all times and has still maintained its position with a hefty box office collection of $2.8 billion across the globe.
