After receiving backlash from Bruce Lee’s daughter over his portrayal of the martial artist in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, filmmaker Quentin Tarantino is once again in the news. This time, owing to his announcement regarding the purchase of the legendary Sunset Boulevard Vista theatre in Los Angeles, California. Yes, Quentin has purchased the property that many failed to acquire in the past.
Quentin Tarantino announced the news via a podcast “?Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard? and stated, “I purchased the Vista on Sunday. We will be mostly opening it up around Christmas and again: only film. Vista will not be a revival house. We will present new movies in it upon the receipt of a film print. It won’t be similar to New Beverly that has its own vibe.” He stated further that the Vista is a unique property and older movies shall be shown in it but people will be able to hold something like a four-night engagement.
Tarantino purchased the New Beverly back in the year 2007. 35mm and 16mm movies are shown in the theatre and it reopened in June after the end of the COVID-19 lockdown. Vista is second theatre that Tarantino has purchased and it showed it first movie in the year 1923. It can hold upto 600 people and was kept shut due to the ongoing pandemic. Despite the end of lockdown, the owners were struggling to reopen it and hence, put up a message “To be continued.” Tarantino who bought the theatre is yet to reveal his true plans for the theatre.
