On February 10, it was announced by Spotify that BTS’s “Boy With Luv (feat. Halsey)” has become the first Korean-language song to enter the Billions Club, as it surpassed 1 billion streams. This marks the third BTS song to achieve this feat, along with “Dynamite” and “Butter”. The song reached this milestone in under three years.

BTS’s “Love Yourself: Answer” repackaged album, released in August 2018, had its title track “Idol” surpass 1.2 billion views on YouTube around 5:50 pm on the 9th. This made “Idol” the fifth BTS music video to reach this view count. Upon its release, “Idol” became a worldwide hit, reaching 11th on the US Billboard Hot 100 and 21st on the UK Official Singles Chart Top 100. As of December 2022, the song has accumulated over 100 million plays in Japan and has been certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of Japan.

“Idol” Music Video

The “Idol” music video was shot on a colorful set inspired by Euro-Asian architecture and traditional Korean styles. The video features a performance that blends Korean samulnori and mask dance and is visually striking with its use of subcultural graphics. The video was released in the US in 2018 and won “Music Video of 2018” at the E! People’s Choice Awards. To date, BTS has 39 music videos with views in the billions, including “Idol” which has now exceeded 1.2 billion views.
