The young men who had never fished entered the Bisbee’s Black and Blue Tournament, the world’s greatest fishing tournament. These young men got 385-pound marlin in the tournament and donated their winnings.
In 2014, the tournament came to host city of Cabo San Lucas in Mexico only five weeks after a storm unleashed destruction on the district. While trying to keep the tournament alive, and to help animate the local economy, Bisbee’s Fish and Wildlife Conservation Fund made a Cabo Relief Fund. Notwithstanding, an anonymous donor vowed to pay the $5,000 passage fee for a team that consented to recruit a local boat as the fee was deferred off, the young men from Casa Hogar had the option to get into the contest. For their catch, the team won $258,325 in prize cash which was donated to the Casa Hogar association by them. The cash was utilized to redesign the offices and a young ladies’ program was added.
Is Casa Hogar a real orphanage?
Indeed, Omar Venegas otherwise known as Papa Omar is the real-life director of the Casa Hogar orphanage. In a meeting with Netflix, Venegas said that he trusts the film will help bring issues to light for the real Casa Hogar. He added, “I need everybody to have the chance to see Casa Hogar and how God is getting along his work.” Omar’s real life was much more dramatic than appeared in the film. Not long after he discovered they would be in the tournament, he was harmed in a car accident.
