Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam 2 Unlikely To Happen At DC Studios

The possibility of Black Adam receiving a sequel at DC Studios is dubious due to worries that the movie won’t make money at the box office and that Dwayne Johnson won’t exactly win over management. The Hollywood Reporter asserts that the original movie’s box office results are insufficient to warrant a follow-up. The film’s budget, which varied between $190 million and $230 million before marketing, only brought in $385 million worldwide. As a general rule, a mainstream Hollywood production is thought to need to earn quadruple its budget before turning a profit.

Johnson passionately refuted the notion that the film won’t turn a sizable profit in a tweet, estimating the total to be up to $72 million on the plus side. In response to earlier news reports that the movie could cost Warner Bros. Pictures up to $100 million, Johnson tweeted.Johnson had long had a soft spot for the supervillain Black Adam, who was first introduced in 1945. He had been interested in playing him ever since he was a part of a Shazam! adaptation that wasn’t made in 2007, in which Black Adam played the antagonist and Johnson was initially considered for the lead role. The decision was made to make the character the star of his own movie, with Johnson also serving as producer.

There have been a lot of changes in DC’s future that coincide with the news that a Black Adam 2 might not happen. Johnson had promised fans that there would be a Black Adam vs. Superman movie after Black Adam and that putting the two superheroes in conflict was the whole reason for introducing Black Adam in the first place.

However, there have been worrying updates for both Black Adam 2 and Man of Steel 2. Wonder Woman 3 has reportedly been cancelled by DC, and many believe that Man of Steel 2 may also be cancelled as part of the company’s strategy under the leadership of its new co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran. The sequel to Black Adam was rumoured to be in the works but hadn’t been officially confirmed.
