The Mandalorian, the first Disney+ Star Wars series finally gets the release date for Season 3. At Brazil’s Comic-Con Experience, series producers Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni and series star Pedro Pascal made the official announcement that The Mandalorian Season 3 will debut on March 1, 2023. Up until this point, all fans had to go on was the hazy promise that the series would release in 2023. Since Lucasfilm unveiled the first teaser for The Mandalorian Season 3 at Star Wars Celebration in the spring, excitement for the lead Disney+ series has been at an all-time high.

After the events of The Book of Boba Fett, which saw Grogu reject the ways of the Jedi and come back to Mando’s side, the teaser saw the titular Mando Din Djarin (Brendan Wayne) reuniting with his adoptive son Grogu. Now that they are travelling together once more, the Clan of Two appears headed for Mandalore. There, they meet up with an old ally named Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff), who has her sights set on recovering the legendary Darksaber that Din currently possesses and which, in accordance with Mandalorian legend, confers the right to rule over all of Mandalore upon whoever wields it.

This season, Din will also embark on a life’s mission after his previous run-in with The Armorer (Emily Swallow) resulted in his being labelled an apostate and informed that he is no longer a Mandalorian, all for the sin of taking off his helmet. The only place to atone is in the live waters under Mandalore’s mines, he was told. Din points out that these were destroyed, but he obviously still has hope because he travelled back to the shattered planet.

Carl Weathers as Greef Karga, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Carson Teva, Omid Abtahi as Clone Engineer Dr. Pershing, and Amy Sedaris as Tatooine mechanic Peli Motto will all make a comeback in Season 3. It’s worth speculating whether Mos Espa’s resident criminal bosses with good hearts, Boba and Fennec Shand, would make a cameo appearance in Season 3 given that it appears that Din is returning to Tatooine to meet Peli. They can call Din in a pinch since they are close enough to him. If he stops over for a glass of spotchka while he’s in town, it would only be courteous.
