Woman Throws Down the Law: Fan Faces Arrest After WNBA Sex Toy Incident

A WNBA game turned chaotic after a neon green sex toy soared onto the court during a matchup between the Atlanta Dream and the Golden State Valkyries. Authorities later arrested a 23-year-old man, charging him with disorderly conduct, public indecency or indecent exposure, and criminal trespass. He claimed the stunt was intended as a joke meant to go viral.

From Atlanta to Chicago and L.A.—Copycats and Escalation

This incident followed closely on the heels of a nearly identical prank during a later game in Chicago, when another lime-green sex toy landed beneath a basket during a game between the Valkyries and the Sky. Though no arrest was recorded in that case, the WNBA identified multiple incidents that week disrupting league games.

On August 6, yet another toy was hurled onto the court during a game between the Los Angeles Sparks and the Indiana Fever. The object landed near Sophie Cunningham in the lane. She recoiled in surprise before teammate Kelsey Plum kicked it into the stands.

League and Player Reactions: Safety First

In response, the WNBA issued a stern statement highlighting that safety is paramount. The league affirmed that anyone throwing objects will face immediate ejection, a minimum one-year ban, and possible arrest and prosecution. This reinforced existing arena security standards.

Players voiced their frustration publicly. Elizabeth Williams of the Sky called the behavior “super disrespectful” and “immature,” warning the responsible fan to “grow up.” Isabelle Harrison demanded better arena security, noting potential dangers to everyone involved. Sophie Cunningham echoed concerns on social media, bluntly saying: "Stop throwing d****s on the court… you’re going to hurt one of us."

The arrested individual, Delbert Carver, was booked into Clayton County Jail and released on bond. His charges include disorderly conduct, criminal trespass, and indecent exposure. The case is currently pending.

Carver reportedly told police his intention was humor, saying the prank “was supposed to go viral.”

Why It Matters: A Disrespectful Trend with Safety Risks

Although the incidents drew waves of social media attention and jokes, many saw them as a troubling reflection of waning fan decorum. Beyond embarrassment, such behavior poses real safety threats to players, referees, and fans. League officials and athletes alike emphasize the need for heightened discipline and enforcement at live events.

With the WNBA enforcing fan bans, stricter security measures, and legal penalties, the message is clear: respect the game and its participants—or face serious consequences.
