Willow Smith spoke candidly about her father Will Smith hitting comedian Chris Rock on the stage at the Oscars 2022 in a recent interview with Billboard.
he March confrontation between the two guys did not "shock me as much as my own personal troubles," the 21-year-old rock singer admitted.
She said to the publication during the interview, according to ET Canada, "I see my whole family as being human, and I love and accept them for all their humanness."
Willow went on to add, "Because of the position that we’re in, our humanness sometimes isn’t accepted, and we’re expected to act in a way that isn’t conducive to a healthy human life and isn’t conducive to being honest."
To refresh your memory, Will Smith smacked Chris Rock after the comedian made a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith's alopecia which is an autoimmune disease that causes hair loss.
Following her father's formal apology to Chris and his family in a five-minute YouTube video, Willow Smith released a statement.
In the video, Smith expressed his regret for upsetting the comedian as well as the nominees and other guests at the event.
The actor also expressed regret to his unhappy followers and pledged to right his wrongs.
He said, "Chris, I apologize to you. My behaviour was unacceptable and I’m here whenever you’re ready to talk."
Smith revealed that Chris had refused to get in touch with the actor just yet and wanted to take his time processing the incident.
