Will Auli’i Cravalho Reprise Her Role As Lead in Moana 2?

In Moana 2, Dwayne Johnson will repeat his role as the deity Maui, and Auli'i Cravalho will sing the role of Moana once more.

The announcement by Disney CEO Bob Iger that Moana 2, which is a big-screen adaptation of the Moana Disney+ series, will debut on November 27 during the Thanksgiving weekend is a critical turning point for the film.

The voice of Auli'i Cravalho will be heard in Moana 2, the follow-up to the 2016 animated feature.

That puts an end to rumors that she was part of the movie.

As a result of the casting, Dwayne Johnson, who plays the film's demigod Maui, and Cravalho will collaborate once more.

Dave Derrick Jr. is the director of the follow-up, which has music from Grammy Award winners Abigail Barlow, Emily Bear, Opetaia Foa'i, and Mark Mancina.

In May 2023, Cravalho announced to her fans that she would not be playing Moana again in the live-action film adaptation.

In a video that was uploaded on Instagram at the time, she remarked, "It wonderfully changed my life and started my career when I was cast as Moana at 14."

“In this live-action retelling, I will not be reprising the role. I believe it is absolutely vital the casting accurately represents the characters and stories we want to tell.”
