The Korean survival drama Squid Game took the globe by storm in 2021, seemingly out of nowhere.
The Netflix series was immediately the most watched in the company's history after millions of users binge-watched it.
Since then, there has been no indication that the worldwide phenomenon is slowing down. By replicating the concert, YouTubers like MrBeast broke records, and a video game is even in the works.
The second season, according to creator Hwang Dong-hyuk, won't debut until the end of 2019 or maybe the start of 2024, according to an interview with Vanity Fair.
Thankfully, this season won't take as long to write as Season 1, which supposedly took Dong-hyuk 10 years to complete.
Ted Sarandos, co-CEO of Netflix and head of content, responded, "Absolutely," when questioned about the comeback of the popular show. The world of Squid Game is just getting started.
Fans may have to wait before getting their second serving of twisted childhood games, despite the fact that it has been renewed.
Since the second season's director Hwang Dong-hyuk stated in November 2021 that he was in the "planning process," it is doubtful that filming would begin before the end of 2022.
In June of this year, Netflix posted a brief teaser video with the phrase, "Red light... GREENLIGHT," to formally announce Season 2.
