Netflix has acquired the thriller film “The Stranger” by filmmaker Thomas M Wright for distribution on its platform
The film, starring Joel Edgerton and Sean Harris, will be released theatrically in Australia before being released on Netflix worldwide in October, with the exception of Italy,
Benelux, Portugal, Greece, Israel, and the Middle East, according to a statement from the streaming site.
The story centres around two strangers who strike up a conversation on a lengthy journey and have their global premiere at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival
. The first is a suspect in an unsolved missing person’s case, while the second is an undercover operative on his tail.

It stars Joel Edgerton and Sean Harris. The film is written and directed by actor and filmmaker Thomas M. Wright, whose 2018 film Acute Misfortune served as his directing debut.

The finely crafted drama, which is based on the true account of one of the biggest investigations and covert operations in Australia, is centred on their uncomfortable alliance.
