The eagerly awaited Vikings: Valhalla sequel to MGM’s Vikings debuted on Netflix in early 2022, and there will be more in 2023.

Michael Hirst’s historical drama Vikings: Valhalla, a Netflix Original, is a prequel to the iconic Vikings History Channel series.

Vikings: Valhalla has not only been renewed for a second season, but it has also been confirmed ahead of time that it has been renewed for a third season.

The show’s early renewal is due to the large upfront order it received when it was first announced. A total of 24 episodes were commissioned.

As part of this deal with Netflix UK, Netflix also obtained the licencing rights to the original Vikings series, and Netflix US is still set to receive seasons 1-6 in a few years.

Vikings: Valhalla will return for two extra seasons on March 9th, 2022, according to Netflix.

Data from Netflix’s Top 10 We have a very good idea of how well the show is doing. It had 80.56 million hours watched in its first two days on the site, making it the second most-watched show that week.

The concert was a critical success, with RottenTomatoes giving it an 89% (classified as Certified Fresh) rating, however crowd reactions were mixed.

Vikings: Valhalla, like its predecessor, takes significant compromises with historical accuracy in favour of action and drama.
