The upcoming Hollywood film, Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo! seems to put an end to fan rumours that Velma Dinkley is attracted to women.

Scooby-Doo is one of the most well-known animated series and viewers like its characters. The movie revealed that Velma, the girl with the big eyes and the smart mind, is a lesbian.

In a recently released clip from the upcoming movie, Velma (voiced by Kate Micucci) meets Coco Diablo (voiced by Myrna Velasco), a well-known costume designer who is behind several of the villains the gang has unmasked.

In the video, Velma is suddenly going through what is described as “lesbian panic” instead of her customary calm confidence.

As she checks off a list of admirable traits like clearly bright and loves animals, we get a glimpse into Dinkley’s well-organized mind. Velma is obviously already organising their move-in, down to the kitties and comfortable turtlenecks.

Velma is now recognised as a lesbian. Since the video has gone viral on Twitter, a large number of admirers have had their earlier fears partially validated.

Variety claims that these rumours were never unfounded theories but rather supported by Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated series supervising producer Tony Cervone and Guardians of the Galaxy screenwriter and director James Gunn

Daphne and Fred have been flirting since the late 1960s, but sadly the creators were never permitted to make Velma’s sexuality explicit.

According to rumours, Gunn reportedly tweeted that he had tried to establish Linda Cardellini’s role as the gang’s bespectacled brain as Velma’s orientation as a lesbian as canon for his live-action movie.

The digital release of Trick or Treat, Scooby-Doo! is set for October 4 and the Cartoon Network premiere is set for October 14.
