This Favorite 'Heartstopper' Character Won't Be Back for Season 3

Arrow

Heartstopper features a number of memorable scenes, but the one where Nick tells his mother he is bisexual has to be one of the greatest. The way the subject was handled with care made the sequence powerful, and the actors deserve some recognition for that as well.

After two seasons of playing the Nelsons, Kit Connor and Olivia Colman are credited with creating that particular moment. Fans would naturally want to see more of their dynamic.

Sadly, Colman disclosed in a Forbes interview that she would not be appearing in the eagerly awaited third season of Heartstopper. Colman apologized profusely and said that, despite her best efforts, she was unable to make time for filming.

She explained: “I couldn’t do number three. I couldn’t fit it in. I feel awful about that. I feel like I was part of one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever been part of.”

In the first two seasons of the show, Colman made a cameo as Sarah Nelson, the mother of Nick Nelson, one of the central characters. Fans of the show are still affected by her role, which was linked to her son's coming out experience.

Nick makes the decision to come out to his mother in the last episode of Season 1. Sarah pays attention to her kid and responds in the most amazing way that someone who is doing something as daring and dangerous as coming out could hope for.

The way the performers interacted, with Connor balancing the emotions and Colman's reassuring smile and cool demeanor, created a great season finale. The following season would see her return.

It's understandable that Colman, whose successful acting career spanned more than 20 years, was unable to make time to shoot Heartstopper. She has accumulated a substantial list of on-screen and voice acting credits in both film and television.

She most recently starred as the villainous Mrs. Scrubbit opposite Timothée Chalamet in the film Wonka. Her most recent television appearances were in episodes of The Bear, Secret Invasion, and Great Expectations.
