Akela Cooper, the screenwriter for M3GAN, has spoken out about how the killer doll from the horror movie has already been called a queer icon.
ODuring an interview with SFX Magazine, Cooper talked about how the LGBT community has embraced M3GAN.
She stated: “I actually questioned one of my homosexual male friends about it and he said this set-up is really found family
“Then, this doll is introduced into the mix.

Cooper cited her friend’s praise of the producers for picking a character with a compelling emotional core that appealed to members of the LGBTQ+ community

The doll gradually develops a personality of its own and is aggressive in an effort to defend Cady from whomever she perceives as a threat.
