A well-received speech about embracing life's embarrassments was given by Taylor Swift to fellow graduating seniors.

It has been a long-held desire of Swift's to receive an honorary doctorate from New York University, which she earned on Wednesday morning.

"One of the most prolific and prestigious musicians of her time," she was honored with an honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts in recognition of her work for artists’ rights.

Swift, on the other hand, had a notion as to why she had been asked to the celebration 

“I’m 90% sure that the reason I’m here is because I have a song called ‘22,'” Swift joked to start things off, referring to the fact that she was speaking to the Class of 2022.

The hashtag #22GraduatesVersion began trending on Twitter before the ceremony even started.

“I’d to thank NYU for making me technically, on paper at least, a doctor. Not the type of doctor you would want around in the event of an emergency,” she joked.
