Taylor Swift fan passed away from heat exhaustion at Rio concert

According to autopsies reported by Brazilian media, a 23-year-old fan who passed away during a Taylor Swift show in Rio de Janeiro in November may have succumbed to heat exhaustion.

Ana Clara Benevides Machado was there at Swift's debut Eras Tour performance in the Brazilian city on November 17.

Temperatures reached 39C (102F) during a heat wave, according to city officials, with a "felt" temperature of 59.3C. The fan's passing "devastated" Taylor Swift, she claimed at the time.

It looked like the singer was also having trouble with the intense heat in the video.

Following the fan's passing, the musician postponed the show that was supposed to happen the following day, but continued the tour anyhow.

Ana Clara Benevides Machado, a psychology student, traveled to Rio from Rondonópolis to see the performance.

Swift's friend Daniele Menin reported to the G1 news site that the 23-year-old passed out during the second song. Before being transported to the hospital, where she passed away, paramedics treated her on the spot.

She experienced a cardiovascular shock and pulmonary bleeding, which led to her abrupt death, according to the post-mortem report. Her father confirmed to the local press that he was positive Ana Clara passed away from the intense heat that day.
