Matt and Ross Duffer, creators of Stranger Things, disclose that Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) was supposed to die in season one.
Stranger Things debuted on Netflix on July 15, 2016, and quickly became a phenomenon.
Season 4 volume 1 was just launched on the platform, while volume 2 will be available on July 1, 2022.
Each character has had the chance to grow, develop, and have their own distinct character arc over the course of the seasons.
Steve, on the other hand, had an unexpected but much-appreciated redemption narrative in which he went from being the school bully to being the group's designated babysitter.
According to Rotten Tomatoes, the Duffer brothers stated during Geeked Week that Steve was supposed to die in the first season of Stranger Things. They don't recall when Steve was meant to die, but they knew it was going to happen.
Jonathan's father was supposed to fight the Demogorgon instead of Steve in the scene where Steve confronts the Demogorgon. Keery is credited by the Duffer brothers with altering his character's trajectory and influencing the Stranger Things storyline. Take a look at Matt's statement after the break:
