Matt and Ross Duffer, creators of Stranger Things, disclose that Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) was supposed to die in season one.

According to Rotten Tomatoes, the Duffer brothers stated during Geeked Week that Steve was supposed to die in the first season of Stranger Things. They don't recall when Steve was meant to die, but they knew it was going to happen.

Jonathan's father was supposed to fight the Demogorgon instead of Steve in the scene where Steve confronts the Demogorgon.
